My time as an American is winding down quickly (at least for this next year). I have just about 2.5 days left before I set off on my journey over to Thailand and still a laundry list of preparations to complete. I will be traveling 12 hours in the US (Aspen to LA), then roughly 19 hours(LA to Taiwan), another 6 hours (Taiwan to Bangkok) and the final stretch of 10 hours in a van from Bangkok to Pla Pak, where I will spend my first month in orientation. So that’s roughly 37 hours of straight travel and no horizontal rest. I am sure the adrenalin will be kicked into high gear and not make the journey as daunting as it looks right now.
I received my placement just this week. I will be teaching in a primary school in a town called Choke Amnuay. If you choose to google it type in Choke Amnuay, Nakhon Phanom, Thailand. The school was hoping for a male but they got me instead and my field director convinced them that I will be perfect because of my previous teaching experience in South Africa. They are now more excited. It sounds like I will be living in a house right next to the school. I don’t know who I will be living with or what the accommodations are like but am excited none the less to have a roof over my head. Another little tid bit about my placement is that I am the first volunteer to be at this school. I have no shoes to fill but can make them as big as I choose for the next volunteer after me!
Thank you for all the prayers and well wishes. Who knows when the next post will be so for the next few weeks take no news as good news. xo

How exciting! That's great that you are in a primary school and how cool that you get to start things off in that school. Talk soon. xo
