The Old City

April 8-10. After recouping from the long awful train ride we made a visit to the ancient city of Sukhothai. This town is said to be one of the first capitals of Siam. It is an old town with a Historical Park that has ancient ruins. Heather, Michelle and I stayed at the most wonderful little guesthouse that served delicious meals and since I was still recovering from my nasty cold that was followed by a case of the runs it was a perfect place to gain some strength.
From our guesthouse we walked to the sawng tao stop and took a slow ride through the new part of town to the old city, passing small crumbled ruins along the way. Once at the Park we rented bikes, the suggested way to see the ruins, for 30 Baht ($1). Riding bikes was a nice change from walking around to so many places in the heat. The three of us were in awe by the beauty of the ruins that are known for their Chedi, lotus-bud, spires at the top and the mountains that paint the background. Not to mention it was nice to be away from the hustle and bustle of city life and have some time in nature. We rode around the park exploring all its history enjoying the free feeling of peddling about while imagining what life must have been like in this old city.
I also visited the same place with my parents a week later so there are pictures of me with them there too.
May the following pictures tell the rest of the story.  .  .

Our little bungalow! Stayed here with the girls and with the rents
